Who We Are
The genesis of Inspiration Point was the desire to start a business as a family that used each of our unique skillsets to produce something we loved. Brainstorming over cups of coffee (bland, cardboard tea, of course) it wasn’t a long leap to realize that we not only could do better than what was available, but we simply had to. We had previously roasted small batches of green coffee for ourselves at home, had some experience with the process, and looked into scaling it up to something we could share with friends and neighbors. A little bit of research, dusting off, cleaning up, and hot-rodding an old roaster that was hiding in a bin under the house, and Inspiration Point was born. After reacquainting ourselves with the roasting process, sampling dozens of green beans from all over the globe, and tasting copious amounts of espresso, we refined our blend into something we truly believed we could stand behind.

Inspiration Point is a family owned and operated boutique micro coffee roaster in Carmel Valley, CA. We are riding the 4th wave of coffee roasters, passionate about quality and freshness, dedicated to providing the best cup of locally roasted coffee available to our community.
Our flagship Rancho Fiesta Blend is a carefully curated mix of beans selected from fair trade farms in Central America. As we are introduced to new farms, we will often also offer a single origin coffee for our clients to try. Our ever expanding countries of origin are Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador, but we’re building relationships with farms in Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Panama.
We hand roast our beans using a Huky 500 roaster with modified Singaporean motorcycle exhaust parts. It truly looks like Dr. Seuss had some design input. The process is a little bit of science, a little bit of artistry, and a whole lot of meticulous care and attention. We carefully track our weights, temperatures, and roast curve trajectory to create each roast run using consistent methodology and controlling as many variables as we can. As much as we’ve negotiated with the higher powers, however, we are still at the mercy of mother nature, and ambient conditions are constantly changing. The result? Unique variations from batch to batch that provoke thought and Inspire you!
